What is World Science Festival Brisbane?

World Science Festival Brisbane will bring some of the world's greatest thought leaders to Queensland; showcase local scientists and performers from around the Asia Pacific region; and host the brightest and the best from previous events in New York. At the Festival, the biggest stars of science will present the beauty, complexity, and importance of science through diverse, multidisciplinary programming that is the World Science Festival signature.

What is the Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist?
 
The Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist supports Dr Geoff Garrett AO, the Queensland Chief Scientist, in his role as strategic advisor to the state government on science, research and innovation and as ambassador for Queensland science.
 
Dr Garrett and his team actively encourage collaboration between government, research and industry to inspire innovation. The team also promotes science, research and innovation to create a better understanding of the contribution they make to the state’s economic, social and environmental wellbeing.

How do I create a video?

You can do it yourself using Thinkable's guide or you could contact your university or organisation's media and communications department who can help in producing and creating your research video. The judging panel will be judging on the strength of your content and ideas, and not on video production skills.

  • Thinkable reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and organization affiliation) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who Thinkable has reason to believe has breached any of these rules, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the Prize. Errors and omissions may be accepted at Thinkable’s discretion. Failure by Thinkable to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.   • If this Prize is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Thinkable, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, Thinkable reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Prize, as appropriate.
  • Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”).
